Job details:
1) Lead electrical commissioning of switchgear, generators, UPS and distribution systems on site
2) Review commissioning scripts, method statements and vendor test procedures before execution on site
3) Direct integrated systems testing including load bank runs and failure mode scenarios

About the role

The Commissioning Engineer will work with a team of Electrical Engineers and Supervisors as they carry out Electrical Commissioning Works and ensure the project programme is kept. The Commissioning Engineer must be effective at understanding of electrical systems as well as supervising External Vendors/Sub-Contractors to complete their work in a Safe and High Quality Standard while also remaining on programme target schedules.

What the role involves

  • Management of Commissioning related tasks for assigned Electrical Vendors.
  • Ensure Compliance with work scope
  • Monitor delivery of scope
  • Communication of deadlines and Cx programme Milestones
  • Management and progress reporting on Cx Programme and deadline progress
  • Attend and provide input to Daily/ Weekly Cx meetings, Internally and vendors
  • Form and update weekly Cx Vendor progress reports for onward submission to Cx management
  • Coordinate with Project QAQC Dept to achieve quality and common objectives.
  • Coordination with Project Energy Marshall Dept to achieve planning co-ordination of onsite switching and permitting activities.
  • Track and obtain approval on relevant project Electrical Cx documents such as Test Scripts, Compliance statements etc
  • Witnessing and compliance review of all vendor Cx activities against approved project documentation
  • Conducting Commissioning Tagging process and procedures.
  • Manage all day to day on site commissioning operations for assigned packages

Skills & Qualifications

  • SCADA/Automation controls experience on IEC-61850/Modbus-TCP/Soft PLC based systems essential.
  • Hands on experience with site-based testing & validation of automation systems
  • SCADA system design/optimisation and ability to read code in
  • Understanding of MV/Goose Interlocking systems along with electrical process controls.
  • Understanding of network architecture requirements for control systems
  • Development and execution of test strategies for SCADA systems
  • Process Flow development and understanding
  • Gas/Power generation plants experience (ideally emergency back-up configuration)
  • Siemens Siprotec Relays/Digsi File knowledge/MV Switchgear understanding.
  • Strong understanding of N+1 requirements for DC Back-up systems.
  • Experience in code writing in FBD/Ladder Logic/SFC highly beneficial.
  • Relevant certificates in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or an Electrical Trade with relevant training and experience e.g NVQ
  • Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in a similar role within a construction environment with experience in Commercial, Industrial, pharma, Data Centre type projects is desirable.
  • Experience of working on LV/MV or HV systems with commissioning experience.
  • Understanding/Experience of some or all of the following: Electrical Switchgear/Transformers/Generators/UPS Systems/Busway systems/ATS/EPMS/BMS/HVAC etc.
  • Construction experience / understanding required with safety experience.
  • Solves problems analytically and acts decisively
  • Process driven candidate and focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes is desirable
